Intergenerational & group activities
We run a number of intergenerational & group activities - such as board game afternoons, community cafe events and our famous annual Christmas lunch. These are a great opportunity for members of the community, young and old, to get together to build links, learn about each other and have some fun! We are currently developing more group activities in collaboration with Age Scotland and other partners. Watch this space for updates!
MIX & MINGLE SESSIONS
On Thursday afternoons during school term time, Fortrose Academy students, BIC volunteers and community members have been made very welcome by Fortrose Library staff. Together they all have fun with different activities whilst in great company. People from the age of 13 up to 94 attend and the atmosphere is very relaxed and all age groups get on famously, learning about each other's lives both past and present. Competition ranges from fierce to very, very relaxed! Refreshments are also made available for everyone. Details on the poster below.
GENTLE EXERCISE SESSIONS
We run a weekly Gentle Exercise Session every Friday morning 11.30am - 12.15pm in Fortrose Library. There is something different every week, including Stretch & Relax and Body Boosting Bingo. This is a great way of staying a bit more mobile using easy, gentle movements and the sessions are led by local yoga teacher & BIC volunteer, Kate Protheroe.
COMMUNITY CAFES
BIC work in partnership with Fortrose Academy and Library to run two-monthly Community Cafes in different locations around the Black Isle. These events are a great opportunity for local people to meet together, with coffee, tea & home-baking (and good craic!)
Details are posted in the News Section of our Homepage. The Cafe events have been funded by Highland Council Ward Discretionary Funding.
